Future Shed

Future Shed, part of Edventure, helped launch and grow green and healthy projects and enterprises by building networks, connecting like-minded individuals, and offering free training, coaching, and resources to turn ideas into action.
By supporting individuals and community groups, Future Shed was creating opportunities for more people to get involved, receive support, and grow projects that encouraged sustainable, affordable, and healthy ways of living.
Because when a community makes small changes together, they add up to something meaningful. Something powerful.
Edventure's Future Shed

Future Shed helped guide and fund many events and activities organised by community networks - ranging from community eating projects and repairs pop-ups to river conservation festivals.
Each year, its residency programme supported community-led groups with funding, guidance, and support to hone, scale, or launch their green and healthy initiative, creating a growing network of grassroots action that engaged communities and championed sustainable behaviours from the ground up.
Future Shed also offered free training, coaching, and weekly 'Future Shed Fridays' - where people gathered to share ideas, connect, and turn ambition into action, or simply use the Edventure Hub as a working space on Fridays between 10am and 12pm.
Frome Food Network – ‘Canteen’, a communal eating project serving delicious, affordable and locally sourced food at special pop-ups.
Everyone Needs Pockets – a network of makers, designers, stitchers and secondhand clothing fans, running activities including How to Mend Your Clothes repair sessions and hosting the annual Frome hub of Sustainable Fashion Week.
Frome Families for the Future – River Vision Project – River Vision Project – connecting us with our river through activities, active research, a song and riverside festival, and designing a new access point to the River Frome in Rodden Meadow. Frome Seed Library – swap or share seed exchange at the public library, ‘Sprouts’ children’s activities, workshops and outreach to support community growing spaces, and Seedy Socials connecting seeds to wellbeing.
Sewing the Seeds – a community fibre project, growing and processing flax for food and fibre. Discover more about the project - what worked, what didn’t, and how to start your own, download our Toolkit now!
Youth Voice – a new initiative supporting a team of 12–18-year-olds in Frome to lead climate action in their own way. This core group will design and deliver activities, campaigns or events that engage other young people — building a movement of youth-led climate energy across the town.
All of the Future Shed Networks listed above continue to thrive in their own right, beyond our project. Go to our Our Learnings page to learn more about the Future Shed residency model.
