Retrofit and home upgrades
Thinking about making home improvements? Start with our free Retrofit Survey. Our whole house retrofit assessment helps you understand how your home uses, and loses, energy, offering practical steps to reduce bills, cut carbon and improve comfort. Whether you're planning renovations, dealing with damp or want a cosier, more energy-efficient space, the survey will consider any unique circumstances and guide you through improvements.
Our qualified retrofit assessors evaluate insulation, glazing, heating and ventilation, to create a tailored plan to fit your home, your budget & your long term goals. You decide what to do, and when, one step at a time.
If your home is over 20 years old and you live in Frome or a surrounding village, get in touch to see how we can help you make energy-smart updates, now or in the future.
You can also sign up to our FREE online advice platform Fairer Warmth where you can find tips to reduce your energy bills, create a personalised energy-saving plan to help prioritise cost-effective upgrades to your home and maximise carbon reduction. It also helps you check eligibility for grants and other support available for you or those you care for.
Solar and Beyond
Interested in solar panels? Generating your own clean electricity can help lower your bills, reduce your carbon footprint, and protect against rising energy prices. It might even boost your home’s value.
Start by checking your solar potential using tools like Solar Wizard or Go Renewable. Look at when you use electricity - if it’s mostly in the evenings, battery storage could help you make the most of your solar energy.
Need a trusted local installer? Or just want to talk through your options? We’re here to help - drop us a line at renewables@frometowncouncil.gov.uk.
