On 27th August, eight young people from our Frome Youth Climate Action Group (we WILL be coming up with a better name very soon!) set off for an inspiring visit to HEAL Somerset.
We were warmly welcomed by Julia, HEAL’s Community Engagement Manager, and volunteer Lyn, who introduced us to this beautiful site and its ambitious rewilding programme.
The day was full of discoveries and adventures:
- We searched for reptiles and spotted a pregnant slow worm (technically a legless lizard), a grass snake, and several common lizards.
- We fed the pigs, visited a beaver dam, watched birds soar across the huge skies, and explored the rolling landscape.
- We tasted the rain, marvelled at a rainbow, and picked one too many blackberries!
Everyone left feeling inspired, and excited about returning to HEAL once we’ve chosen from the many activities on offer!

👉 Anyone aged 12–18 is welcome to join our group. Visit the Youth Voice page on our website or email chris@edventurefrome.org to get involved.
