In the last two and a half years the Green and Healthy Frome (GHF) team has connected with around 150 organisations, campaigns and community members reaching over 3,000 individuals outside our town to share ideas and inspiration – from Yeovil’s Pint and Planet group to World Circular Textiles Day! We’ve attended conferences and webinars, visited projects and welcomed 80 people at our GHF Project conference in November 2025 and over 70 at Frome Medical Practice’s Green Impact for Health Conference in 2024. The organisations we have connected with have included universities, funders, community groups, County, Town and Parish Councils, campaign groups and sports clubs ,

The ripple effect:
The challenges of the climate crisis are overwhelming and can bring up all kinds of feelings, reactions and responses. However, we are living proof that connecting, sharing and creativity give us hope and agency. I have enjoyed looking through our connections beyond Frome as this year draws to an end and we plan next steps following the end of our funding in March. Stories of collaboration, creativity and climate action beyond our town:

  • Jon from East Sussex visited Frome to do a feasibility study on composting systems and meet with GHF Community Sustainability Lead Charlotte to talk all things waste, including composting clinical waste in the future!
  • Frome Families for the Future’s River Vision song, I Am the River was sung at Farleigh Hungerford Outdoor Swimming Society’s AGM, advocating for the river through the catchment.
  • Peggy Sue came to two textile reuse and mending sessions in Frome with Everyone Needs Pockets and went on to set up her own enterprise in Tetbury.
  • GHF Communications Lead Annabel produced a case study, Communicating Green & Healthy Frome’s Mission To An External Audience, for other projects funded by the Lottery’s Climate Action Fund.
  • Frome Medical Practice was part of an Italian documentary exploring social prescribing.
  • GHF Retrofit Lead Sally attended meetings with the Centre for Energy Equality to develop a data platform and app for homeowners and/or energy volunteers to provide advice on retrofit.
  • GHF Project Manager Becky travelled with Charlotte and Howard from OpenStoryTellers to Reading to receive an award from Activists Without Borders Film Festival for the film Journeys Through Time and Climate.
